Snickerdoodle Bread with Cinnamon Chips

As with the snickerdoodle cookies, this Snickerdoodle Bread is loaded with a combination of sugar and cinnamon, as well as, the addition of cinnamon baking chips.  This goes well with a cup of fresh brewed coffee.

This recipe makes enough for 2 loaves, so why not give an unexpected treat to a friend.  Besides, that friendly gesture will help you in overindulging.  On another note, you can bake small loaves, place in those pretty clear holiday treat bags, add a bow and there you go……..a great gift for the holidays.  You will make folks happy!

Snickerdoodle Bread with Cinnamon Chips

Need a great addition to your brunch menu? This bread is loaded with a combination of sugar and cinnamon, as

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups cinnamon chips
  • 1 tablespoon flour

Cinnamon Topping

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease, or spray 2 9x5 loaf pans. Using mixer, cream together softened butter, sugar, salt and cinnamon until fluffy. One at a time, beat in eggs until well combined. Add the vanilla and sour cream. Blend well.
  2. In a small bowl combine flour and baking powder. Stir into the butter/sugar mixture, mixing well.
  3. Coat the cinnamon chips with the 1 tablespoon of flour. Stir chips to the mixture. Mix well.
  4. Spoon evenly into the 2 greased pans.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the 2 tablespoons and sugar with the 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. Sprinkle over the loafs.
  6. Bake 60 to 70 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Place on rack. Let sit 5 minutes before removing from pans to cool.
  7. If baking in mini pans, adjust baking times accordingly.
