I have no idea where this recipe originated because it has been around forever.
There are so many variations; ginger ale, root beer, Dr. Pepper, Root Beer; 1 can, 2 cans, and on and on. For me, the hardest part was getting up early to get it started With a little pre-planning, the night before, I got the crock pot out, added the Reynolds Slow Cooker liner, sat the onion, ginger ale, and BBQ sauce on the counter – all ready to go. And speaking of the Reynolds Slow Cooker liner, I highly recommend them. They make clean up is a breeze!
In the morning, place half of the sliced onions in the bottom of the Crock Pot. Add the roast, top with the other half of the onions. Pour in the ginger ale.
Your house will smell amazing while this is cooking. And this is what you end up with. Enjoy!
